Villa in Val d'Orcia for Holiday, Ripa D'Orcia, Vacation Farmhouse

Ripa d'Orcia

Ripa d'Orcia is an old farmhouse from the nineteenth century recently restored, tastefully furnished and with all modern comforts. It has six apartments, a pool and incredible views.

The farmhouse is placed in the heart of Val d'Orcia, and in a few minutes you can easily reach some of the most beautiful attractions of Tuscany, such as Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano and San Quirico d'Orcia, famous for their artistic heritage, wine, olive oil production and gastronomic traditions. It is the ideal place to pass a very relaxing holiday in contemplation of nature, with the advantage of tasting the most typical dishes of Tuscan cuisine and its best wines.

Ripa d'Orcia comprises two different buildings one in front of the other and separated by a beautiful courtyard. There are six apartments, each with its own private entrance, independent heating, mosquito screens in all the bedrooms, Wi-Fi internet connection and private outdoor eating area with table and chairs. There is a television in the communal recreation room (the owner preferred not to put any TV into the apartments) and a small laundry room close to the reception (you will receive tokens (Euro 4 euro) to use the washing-machines. There are also some clothes-horses).

If you love nature and hiking, there is plenty for you to discover in the surrounding woods, fields and olive groves.

GARDEN & SWIMMING POOL

The farmhouse, deep in the Tuscan countryside and surrounded by olive-groves and vineyards, offers a swimming-pool (15 x 7 meters, deep from 1.40 to 1.90 meters). Close to the pool there is a nice area with barbeque and tables where you can taste your own cooked meat!

For children (but not only) there is a bowling green and table tennis and table football areas and 50 metres away from the house (not to disturb guests who prefer resting and silence) there is a field suitable for amusing matches of five-a-side football, basketball and volleyball.

The property have 6 mountain bikes at your disposal at the price of Euro 20 per week (under request a tour guide may be available).

Montalcino

It was made famous by Brunello, one of the world’s best red wines. But Montalcino is also a magnificent Italian city of art which, from its hill, dominates the 3000 hectares of vineyards (1500 for Brunello) that have given it fame and wealth.

Ripa d'Orcia

Reviews

We were in June 2012 in Ripa d'Orcia. Nice appartments in an old beautiful restored medieval farmhouse surrounded by olives and grapes. We had the appartment Ginepro. It was very hot in Tuscany during our stay there but the house is very cool and pleasant, you can use free internet on your own devices. The big garden and the pool are well kept. There are a lot of comfortable chairs around the pool. There is enough shade under a huge oak tree and there are plenty of parasols. There is only one negative point to mention and that is the strada bianca of 8 km from san Quirico to Ripa d'Orcia. You'll have to clean your car afterwards because it will be all covered with white dust. But that strada is also positive there is less traffic and on the border of the same road we saw snakes, deer, rare birds and beautiful plants. The owners, father and son are friendly and helpfull. the younger ones speak English and the father speaks french. San Quirico is the village for shopping (Coop) and there are a lot of nice smaller medieval villages nearby. Near the pool we saw young Hoepoos!

We stayed 1 week in Ripa d'Orcia in august 2011. Great place, very quiet and very friendly welcome from Paolo. Very nice views in the Val d'Orcia covered with vineyards, olivetrees in the tipical tuscan hills. Excellent starting point to visit Montalcino(15 km), Pienza, Bagno Vignoni, Siena(40 km), Montepulciano(25km), Crete Sinese... The Ripa d'Orcia is situated along a "strada bianca"(5 km) from the village of San Quirico where you can find food-shops, restaurants, bakery... The appartment was very clean with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and living. Outside each appartment there is a patio with furniture and umbrella. Nice, big swimmingpool, lovely garden with barbecue and parking area for the car. Bike-rent is possible too and we did some very nice, technical MTB trips jn the region with a lot of climbing and downhill activity. A lot of visits possible in the region at the local farms to taste the home-made products such as wine(Rosso d'Orcia IGT), olive-oil and honey. Very good restaurants in villages as San Quirico, Montalcino, Pienza and Castiglione d'Orcia). Also the perfect region to taste the Brunello wine (Montalcino), the Vino Nobile di Montipulciano and the local Val d'Orcia wines... We enjoyed it very much and we will go back next year for the third time.

We had an amazing stay at Ripa d'Orcia!!! Paolo and his family made our family feel so comfortable. The property is a great size and given its remote location, the kind of place you let your kids run around and don't worry about anything happening to them. This is a very special place!

Our family have come back several times to Ripa d'Orcia - the location is lovely - quiet, with lovely views and the apartments are spotless, gardens equally well maintained. It has the added advantage of course to be close to so many places to explore - siena, florence - the list goes on. You do need a car - there is a good 10 minute drive to shops and restaurants.
